Grievances
If you have a complaint against a funeral director or a funeral establishment, we encourage you to discuss the issue with the funeral director and/or management of the funeral establishment.
Be Aware of Financial Scams Targeting Families and Funeral Homes
Financial scams continue to impact families during their time of grief and funeral homes serving their communities. Those impacted by a scam should contact their local authorities to report the incident.
- Recommendations for families: Discuss the funeral home's payment and billing policies with their staff during the arrangement meeting. Do not give any information to individuals contacting you for payments or refunds. Hang up and directly contact the funeral home staff, especially when asked for payment.
- Recommendations for funeral home staff: Inform families you serve of the funeral home's policies and practices regarding payments/billing. Include a statement on your funeral home's website regarding your policies and warning of scams. Funeral home staff should be aware scams are also impacting funeral homes. Your staff should confirm any requests for services outside of the arrangements directly with the family they are serving.
